Boys and TV Shows

I'm sure that you've noticed that Breathe has undergone another makeover. Sorry about that, I feel the need to clean it up (almost there) and keep the focus on the posts I publish oh so casually. I hope that this new look appeals to you. I may switch it again depending on any number of things. Apologies.

Last month was our friend Matty Bo Batty's birthday. Each year, we go out to celebrate and there's always a theme. This year was white. Everyone was to be dressed in white. Simple but more difficult than anticipated when you don't have a lot of white in your wardrobe. I say this because Q and I scoured high and low at the local V.V. Boutique and we totally scored! Take a look at my sexy man:

Handsome King.

I'm really looking forward to Baz Luhrman's take on The Great Gatsby. Just sayin.

Wanna see Matty Bo Batty's choice of white attire for his bash?

He decided to be our Lord. Bo Batty style.

Do you like The New Girl? Grey's Anatomy? I do. And yes, I am one of those people that get excited when their fave shows return for a new season. The premier of The New Girl was hysterical and awesome as every episode is. I feel a bit happier after watching it. As for Grey's Anatomy, I said to Q that I will have a regularly scheduled good cry every week now that this show is back on. True. Ask Britt Britt. Nearly every episode of Grey's sets my tear ducts into overdrive. I think it's a really good show, I love it, but I do hope that they tone down the super over the top out of this world drama. Granted it works, aaaaaaaand yeah.....fellow Grey's fans, you know what I mean.

Other shows I look forward to: Gossip Girl, The Walking Dead, Modern Family (which I am severely behind on), Dexter (that last episode was a sphincter clincher). What shows are you waiting anxiously for?

Isn't my Seestor talented?! Holy smokes! This is an amazing shot!

She's great. The subject of the photo is pretty great too.

The Mac Clock Says It's Late, The Body Clock Disagrees

12:23 am start:

Now I'm pretty sure that you have all seen a certain handsome devil 'round these parts of Breathe, well guess what folks.....that's right.....it's his birthday!

I'm not terribly articulate or very eloquent but this is the man who holds the key to my heart. He is incredible. Intelligent and handsome, he has a soft spot for animals and pickled onions. He has a smile that stops traffic and a physique that doesn't quit. A warm heart and strong sense of self. He cares deeper for those close to him than anyone I know. He is the most talented and a very skilled artist in many forms. He puts up with my dorkery and lame dancing; on occasion he will join in! Stylish and super fun; a man who prefers vinegar to anything sweet (except for Deep 'n' Delicious cakes!), Halloween over Christmas, and has an affinity for insects and plants like no other.

Figaro, not Floyd (old neighbourhood cat).
He is the one that I turn to, trust, and love more and more each day. My bestest best friend. The man that I have the most fun with and who gives my favourite hugs and the best kisses.

Handsome devil.

To you on your birthday: I love you more than I could ever say and I will keep telling you everyday of our lives. In two months it will be our day, the biggest day for us in our journey so far. I am so excited! Thank you for being the calm and reasonable one through the wedding stuff and keeping me grounded.

You are my rock and my home. I love you more than my outstretched arms can reach.

Yours always,

k.

Today Is The Day

That Mrs. Babe celebrates another year of wisdom and fun!

from Jenny Babe's fbook. Photog: Seb?
If you are feeling blue and/or are having a real sh*t day, this is the person to call. She is the most encouraging, supportive, loving, caring, and down-to-earth woman. She doesn't take crap from anyone and is not afraid to put herself out there. She is cool as a cucumber and fearless. Tough as nails with a shining platinum heart bedazzled with garnet gemstones. Stunning face, hot physique, and glowing soul. She's the owner of a smile that'll brighten your day in a second.

To Jenny Babe on your birthday, I treasure you and am inspired by you. I am elated to call you one of my BFFs and honoured that you are one of me bridesmaids.

Merry Birthday Gorgeous! I heart you!

Birthday Weekend Ketchup

Get it? Ketchup!? Catch up.....anyways here's the tale of last weekend. I showed you the hat the Q gave me and that was just the beginning to a wonderful weekend with some pretty great peeps.

Friday: actual birthday. Party at home with family and Bridgetown friends. Best. Party. Ever. It was designed to my exact specifications with a little extra in surprises.

I woke up on birthday morning to see the kitchen decked to the nines in Batman (that was the theme, and yes I realized this birthday party will look like something for a 10 year old boy, but it was awesome).

This was the greatest homemade card ever, dwellers of the house had
signed it and then later at the party, so did everyone else. Thank you!

How sweet is that!? There's some good folk in this here house. In our family, the birthday boy or girl gets to choose what they want for dinner and so on and so on. I requested dill pickle soup and then changed my mind to grilled cheese sandwiches and pickles (the surprise here was bacon!). The other surprise was homemade cheesecake that Seestor made! It was so good that Bridgetown boys were talking about it the next day! Good show Seestor!

Saturday: WEM shopping with Bridgetown boys and billiard double birthday bonanza.

Bridgetown boys and I went to WEM sans Q (he had to work. Insert sad face.) but had a good time nonetheless. K-Big got himself a fancy watch and a near heart attack too. K-Big doesn't shop much, he's a saver, ppffft. C-Man cashed in on some sweet deals for classy and hipster clothes and outerwear. I found a beautiful Bettie Page dress and pretty earrings. We gave our wallets a bit of a break and headed over to the amusement park, Galaxyland. Space Shot and Mindbender were awesome! It's been a long time since I've been on rides and after a run on the Mindbender I was reminded why: motion sickness! I didn't feel all that bad until we went on the carousel. With the 3 year old children. And I was the one who was sick.

Billiard double birthday bonanza! Mrs. Babe and I had a double birthday party. She's a pool shark and I am not. She won nearly every game she played and I did not. We exchanged gifts and squeezed the life out of each other as usual (we're big huggers). Hahaha we'll get to Mrs. Babe later. All of our friends came to have some fun, whether they stayed for an hour or all night, it was great. I failed to get some photos but rest assured Mr. Babe presented us with a delightful cake made entirely of cupcakes! It read "Happy Birthday K & J!"

What a great weekend. Thank you to everyone who planned and put the birthday parties together, thank you to everyone who came out on Friday and on Saturday, thank you to the Bridgetown boys for driving up to chill and celebrate, and thank you for the gifts, they're wonderful! I love you all!

Best Birthday Gift Ever

That I can recall from recent years. Q decided to give me part of my birthday gift today due to extreme cold. An early gift and a useful and totally rad gift. Best gift ever.

It's thick and really furry and a nice shade of macintosh red. I heart it!

Thanks Q!

A Request Delivered!

For my gorgeous friend Erinn at Fancy Napkin, the recipe for the coconut cheesecake I made for Seestor on her birthday.

Coconut Cheesecake

1-1/4 c.                         oreo cookie crumbs
1 c.                               shredded coconut
1/4 c.                            butter, melted
3 pkg. (250 g each)         philadelphia brick cream cheese, softened
3/4 c.                            sugar
1 tsp.                            vanilla
1 tsp.                            coconut extract
3                                  eggs

- heat oven to 350F
- mix crumbs, coconut, and butter; press onto bottom of 9-inch springform pan. *I don't have one, so I used a 9-inch cake pan and lined it with parchment paper.
- beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and coconut extract with mixer until well blended.
- add eggs, one at a time, mixing on low speed after each just until blended.
- pour over crust.
- bake for 40 - 50 minutes or until centre is almost set.
- run knife around rim of pan to loosen cake; cool before removing rim and refrigerate for four hours.

Enjoy!

So I Have This Uncle

And today is his birthday. He's the guy that's married to this lovely gal.

Aren't they sweet?
He's pretty hip and tres good looking (he's been dubbed the Silver Fox in past years).

That's one hip kat.

He's the photography and tech wiz of the family (Q now has someone to talk to about that stuff, someone who actually understands it all). He's been one of my biggest supporters and critics, but nothing short of the most loving. He has a Harley and rides around the country with his lady.

He made me feel incredibly special when he said that I take good pictures. *Thank you! It makes me want to do it all the more and learn as much as I can (I will require your help though, please teach me).

So to my uncle on his birthday: Merriest of Merries to you! I love you lots and am so excited that you're our wedding photographer! Thank you for that and for all the hugs past, present, and future.

Told you he was good looking.
xoxo

PS: To all those who are curious, check him out on facebook (Bigfoot Media), twitter, and flickr! Oh, he also has a blog. Have a peek.

Time To Catch Up!

Alrighty, here it is, the big post with the holiday photos to catch up. I have also decided that there won't be a tour of the new place because a) it's been busy and too messy to photograph, and b) I'm a little lazy and I forget about it every now and again. Sooooo.....sorry! But here's some other stuff for you to feast your eyes on:

Seestor's birthday cake: a coconut cheesecake with an oreo cookie crumb and coconut crust. Homemade by yours truly.

It was tasty (thank goodness!).

I decorated various trees this year.

The tree in the House of F (pre-baubled).
Seestor's crazy.

The Bee tree. This is what I imagine an acid trip to be like.

Some casualties along the way (and many afterwards due to curious kitties).

Momma's 2011 ornament.
Q (Jack) and myself (Sally). Our 2011 ornaments.

Seestor's 2011 ornament.

Christmas Eve: A Frost Carnival.

You were given 2 tickets to start with when you arrived. Two tickets and
whatever you thirsted for. In order to eat from the fantastic menu, you had
to play carnival games to win more tickets. I managed to eat half of the menu.
It was the best carnival food I've ever eaten.

One of me BFFs and the host of this fun Christmas party.
I heart you Petros!
Q won some tickets on this one. I won more. Just sayin'.

The largest of the pups in the Carnival house: Jewel. A beautiful and friendly briard.
I fixed her ponytail so she could see the party. Isn't she pretty?!
Q's sweet steal in the tacky gift exchange.

Mine and Q's tree etc.

Next post: Christmas Day!

Another Birthday!

I know it's late, but I have only just found a photo. Online pals, help me wish my friend, co-worker, and my momma's beau a happy birthday!

Sorry for the late post but it's  all yours!

Happy Smiley Birthday G!
